Amazon.com Review The Brother IntelliFAX 770 is an easy-to-use, inexpensive plain-paper fax machine perfect for the home office. Remote access features make this a great choice for the traveling professional or telecommuter. The 770's tiny size allows it to fit comfortably on a crowded desk. We set up the Brother 770 quickly using the included StartCard quick-setup guide. The fax uses thermal line printing, so we flipped the control panel forward, lifted the top cover back, and dropped in the ribbon cartridge. We found the control panel uncluttered and easy to navigate. The unit also worked well for quick copies. The unit's 512 KB of internal memory enables it to handle up to 20 typical pages, 40 two-digit coded fax numbers, and eight one-touch numbers. You can put the 770 in fax-forwarding mode to redirect your faxes and control the unit remotely while on the road. Using a touch-tone phone, you can dial into the unit, check for new faxes, and reroute them to a nearby fax machine by using your remote-access code. The paper cassette handles up to 100 sheets, and a Sort button lets you switch between stacked and sorted multiple-page copies. Four resolution and three contrast settings let you tweak the output as much as necessary. A quick-reference card and a pocket-size remote-functions card are nice extras included with this unit. If you need a fax on a budget that is easy to use, the IntelliFAX 770 is a good choice. Pros: - Compact design
- Remote fax retrieval
- Quick setup

Easy to use, never had paper jams with it March 17, 2010 Jean Heather Akins (Martinez, CA United States) I bought this years ago and it still works great. Easy to set up thanks to the Start-Up guide card included. I've used it to fax occasionally and make simple one sheet copies. I have never had paper jams with it. It's for personal home use, but I imagine if you have a business to run you'd probably want a bigger and fancier fax machine that does much more. But for simple personal home use it's fine.
It will last you for years September 8, 2008 Texarrific (Texas) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought our Brother 770 fax machine when I started my business in 1998 and it is still going strong! I have actually purchased a few updated machines over the years. They keep breaking down, and we pull out the trusty 770 once again. This is the only piece of office equipment we have not had to replace in ten years. No frills, but boy is it reliable.
Faxes being sent frequently jam September 23, 2006 William S. Cherry (Dallas, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This thing can't pull a piece of paper strait through no matter what. One side always pulls faster than the other, so you eventually have the paper 1) being printed at an angle and 2) jamming unless you're there to try to guide it through.
Secondly, the cartridges are outrageously expensive. I still use this machine because I only get/send a fax every now and then, but if I were a regular faxer, I'd trash this Brother in a second. The company should have recalled all of this model.
Constant paper jamming problems- beware June 11, 2006 Adam Helberg (Tustin, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this model fax for about 4 years now and have been plagued by paper jamming--very frustrating. I found it worked best with 24 lb paper but still I need a more dependable fax and cannot deal with having to clear paper jams every couple of days.
Because of this I'm giving this fax away for free and getting the HP 1040.
Good features for the price January 4, 2003 Aj (Northeast, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm not a fax wiz, but the quick reference chart got me through the initial setup of this machine. For incoming faxes it has worked flawlessly.... outgoing faxes can sometimes be a challenge. However, (as with most machines) if you line the paper up right, and don't attempt to put anything less than an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in, you should have problem free faxing and/or copying. The roll-type printing cartridge does seem to disappear quickly, and it can be challenging to find replacement cartridges unless you live next to a big office supply store (tip: if you don't require crisp incoming faxes,... you can re-roll the cartridge back and re-use it at least one more time). :) Overall: for the price and small space it takes up, I believe it is worth getting. However, if you don't want to go through a small learning curve figuring out how to use it properly, pass it up.
