The UXK01 from Sharp is an optional cordless phone for use with the UX-CC500 fax machine. Up to three extra handsets can be added to the system, providing you with multiple phone extensions as well as intercom and call-transfer functions. The UXK01 utilizes the 2.4 GHz frequency, providing clearer reception and greater range than some older phones operating on lower bands. Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the UXK01 has a 30-number caller ID memory, as well as a 45-entry phone directory (40 of which are shared between the fax machine and the handset). An illuminated keypad makes dialing in poorly-lit environments a snap, while a page button makes finding a misplaced handset quick and easy. You can remotely operate the fax from the handset, as well as check any messages on the fax machine's answering system. With any-key answer, you can pick up an incoming call by pressing any of the phone's buttons, and headset compatibility allows you to communicate hands-free (headset sold separately). The handset has a four-hour talk time and lasts up to three days on standby, while a low-battery indicator lets you know when to return the handset to its cradle for recharging. My order & shipping was fast. The products came in new condition. 1-of the cordless handsets battery was dead. I tried to contact the company but was not successful. But you know what? For the price & fast shipping, it was still worth getting the product and the battery was not a problem to get & change.

I have had the base station and the Handset for over 5 years now. The base station has its unique issues, where if there is no Ink Roller in the fax machine, most memory functions do not work. A simple Cello-Tape fixed this problem, I tied down the lever for the Ink roller and things worked great after that. Never used the unit to receive faxes, though I can send them if I need to.
I have gone through over a $150 worth of batteries in the past 5 years with the hand sets (and I have 4 of them around the house). Though the handsets worked well initially, they have thier issues with a G Router. The batteries are expensive to buy. I have solved this now by using 3 Energizer AAA rechargeable 2500 mAh batteries and soldering the Anodes / Cathodes of 3 batteries in series ... together and then cover them with electrical tape, to create a pseudo battery pack @ 3.6 volts.
If you have some time and innovation at your disposal, do go for these if you find them for cheap.

I bought the main unit with two of these handsets from Staples roughly two years ago. Everything has been working great and I'd recommend the product if you are in need of such a solution.
Pluses:
Main unit has built in answering machine and fax.
Individual handsets do not require a phone outlet, just a power outlet.
Looks good and functions well.
Minuses:
2.4 ghz, which means if you have a wireless network it may cause interference.
FAX thermal roll runs out pretty fast and it's not easy to get a replacement.
Phone on main unit is corded.

I wish I could rate this phone in minus stars. I bought a refurbished fax/copier/answering machine and from day one the handset did not work. Since purchasing the unit (the base works fine), I have gone through 2 replacement handsets that didn't work either. I even purchased a new handset from another vendor and had to return it because it couldn't be programmed (which was one step ahead of the other 3 that couldn't be charged to get to the programming step.) I am still waiting for a working replacement from Sharp 3 months after buying the initial unit. A Sharp representative claims there isn't a global problem with this phone, but that the universe has obviously conspired against me to prevent me obtaining a working handset. Stay far away from this phone if possible.
